The Lord of The Rings

On New Year’s Day of 2020, the representatives of The World Nature Summit got together and started to discuss the serious environmental condition and human stupidity.

“We can’t just sit and do nothing anymore. We have to take action on protecting ourselves.” As the summit started, the representatives talked over each other.

“We’re almost about to suffocate due to the air pollution,” said the representative of the sky.

“Human beings have massacred us so far. They made a ridiculous day, called Arbor Day, to encourage to plant trees. But they don’t stop cutting us. We can’t stand it anymore,” the representative of the plants shouted.

“Right, they are cruel. We’re almost becoming bald because of lack of trees.” The representative of the mountains strongly agreed to it.

“So, did you decided to set fire to yourself like the recent wildfires in California?”

“We wanted to warn them of how fearsome our revenge can be, even at the expense of own lives.”

“Human beings are the stupidest creatures in the universe. We made a lot of natural disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes, and huge storms to teach and warn them to stop destroying nature, but they are so empty-headed that they didn’t realize that these were warning signs towards them.” The chairman of the submit commented.

“Yeah, they are so stupid. They were really scared when they saw or experienced horrifying disasters, but they forgot very quickly and easily.”

“Not only that but they are the most selfish creatures in the universe. They had hundreds of thousands of endless and meaningless wars to steal from each other. They also stole everything from us. We lost our habitats, food, and even our wildness.” The representative of animals cried out. “We were starving so much and went to the town where humans live for some food, but they were shocked and tried to kill us. We just went there to get some food that they stole from us, not to scare or attack them. They are the invaders not us!”

“We have to do something like the time of ice age before losing our last shield, our natural healing ecosystem!” All representatives started to raise their voice here and there.

The heated discussion about how and what to do to cut down on human brutality which had contributed to their selfishness, ignorance, and neglect lasted until the next day. Eventually, the chairman raised a hand to calm down the representatives and firmly said.

“We need your help, Agent V.”

“Yes, sir. We will command 19 to penetrate into human bodies.”

The Unit of Covid-19 carried out their mission, and the levels of pollution all around the world started to plummet. Human beings are prohibited from going out. They don’t travel, go to work, go to school, and hang out with friends. Factories shut down, and companies and schools closed. It looked like the whole world stop operating.

The chairman of the summit monitored this situation and fell into a deep contemplation.

“It might be temporary pause. It is just a band-aid solution. The situation will simply come back if human beings return to their old habits. We need to prepare their strike back. It could be much harder than ever before.”

What Covid-19 teaches us is not the way of how to handle the pandemic, but the awareness of how severely nature on the earth is suffering because of us and struggling in agony.

It’s time to take action for both human beings and nature.
