What do you usually do to blow off steam and overcome burnout? Hang out with your friend and drink until you black out? Travel just for relaxation? Do something for meditation like Yoga? Or just stay at home and do nothing?

Well, I hardly ever do those types of activities. The way that I usually relieve stress is to go to movies and isolate myself from the outer world, sitting in the darkness and concentrating on movies. Weather and time permitting, what I like most to console and heal my exhausted body and mind is to see mother nature: where I was born and should return someday in the future. There’s nothing special. I just walk on the trail savoring nature with all my senses; seeing the beautiful scenery of nature, listening to the peaceful sound of nature, and feeling the cozy relaxation of nature.

People ask me why I go up mountains because I have to go down again anyhow. I can’t find an answer that I will persuade them because hiking or trekking, no matter what they are called and no matter what a reasonable answer I suggest to them, are just hard-physical exercise for them. It is not that kind of exercise. It’s such a mindful, meaningful and wonderful experience for me. Nature gives me a lot that I can never pay back. That’s a simple reason why I love nature, love hiking and go to see nature whenever I escape from everything that distresses me and want to unwind and take consolation from someone or something. And that’s why I cannot stop this stupid repetitive activity that most of my friends never understand.

Well, I’m not sure if I can have my life-long companion who has the same ideas about my favorite outdoor activity. Even if not, I will keep going on a new adventure, when I am old and gray.
